Sports Injuries First Aid


This course is aimed at individuals wishing to become an accredited First Aider in the workplace, particularly where it has been identified subsequent to risk assessment that a trained First Aider is recommended.


This is a 2 day course, and can be completed on-site or as an open course at one of our venues.  

The sports injuries syllabus covers the following:

  • Understanding the roles and responsibilites of the Sports First Aider
  • Reporting and recording of incidents including RIDDOR
  • Contents of a sports first aid kit (including cross contamination)
  • Assessing the situation and acting safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency

Candidates will also be trained to administer first aid to casualties, suffering from the following:

  • Unconsciousness (including seizure)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Choking
  • Wounded and bleeding
  • Shock
  • Minor cuts, grazes and bruises

In addition, discussions of specific sports related injuries/illness to include topics such as:

  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Asthma
  • Stroke
  • Heart Attack (including Angina)
  • Diabetes
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Spinal Injury
  • Soft tissue damage
  • Head injury
