Emergency Paediatric First Aid

 

This course is aimed at employees who have been identified to act as First Aiders in low risk workplace child care environments.

 

This course is covered in 1 day and is available onsite or as an open course.  More details of the elements covered can be found below.

Candidates will cover a range of subjects, including:

  • Unconciousness (including seizure)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Choking
  • Minor injuries
  • Wounds, bleeding and burns
  • Epilepsy
  • Anaphylaxia
  • Shock
  • Head Injuries

 

In addition, there will be a discussion of specific work related injuries/illnesses, to include topics such as:

  • Asthma
  • Meningitis Awareness
  • Defibrillator Awareness
  • Childhood illness
  • Medication and dealing with unwell children

 

Qualifications

 

Candidates will be continually assessed throughout the course to ensure learning outcomes have been achieved.  Successful candidates will receive an Approved Certificate which is valid for 3 years.
