Course to be held in Castle Douglas between 4th and 6th March 2020, This course is aimed at anyone wishing to become an accredited first aider in the workplace, particularly where it has been identified subsequent to risk assessment that a trained first aider is recommended.

First Aid at Work is a 3 day course

On completion of the course, candidates should have a knowledge and understanding of the following:
The role and responsibilities of the first aider
The recording and reporting of accidents and incidents including RIDDOR
Contents of a first aid kit (including cross contamination)
Be able to assess a situation and act safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency
Candidates will also be trained on how to deal with and administer the appropriate first aid to the following emergencies:
Unconciousness (including seizure)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Wounded and bleeding
Minor injuries (grazes, bruises etc)
Injuries to bone, muscles and joints (including spinal)
Chest injuries
Burns and scalds
Eye injuries
Anaphylactic shock
Heart attack (including Angina)


Candidates will be continually assessed throughout the course, and a multiple-choice questionnaire will be completed at the end. Successful learners will receive an approved certificate which is valid for 3 years.
